A man was arrested, charged and convicted after threatening to burn Jews from Ethiopia,according to court proceedings in Israel. Haifa prosecutors said that a local man was convicted of arson and making threats against Jews of Ethiopia. The man was sentenced on Monday, to four years in prison. 37-year-old Benny Lugasi was also ordered to pay the victim 7,000 shekels in
compensation. Lugasi threatened Ethiopian Jewish residents, who lived in his mother's apartment building,three times last year.
In one incident, Lugasi set a table, chairs and pieces of wood at the entrance of the building, on fire. He then tried to stop residents from extinguishing the fire.He said: "I'll get a knife and kill you all. I'll burn you all. I'll show you what's what."
In another incident, he threatened to burn the Jews of Ethiopia. "You Ethiopians, I will set  you on fire," he threatened. In the third incident, Lugasi set a car of one of the residents and a garbage can, on fire
and said: "I'll burn all Ethiopians in this building." Lugasi was drunk when each of the incidents occurred.
The judge in the case urged the Israel Prison Service to put Lugasi in an alcohol rehabilitation program.
