A woman was fired from her job after her employer decided she was at risk of getting pregnant. The woman in Germany has been dismissed
by her employer because they thought she might be pregnant after she announced that she got engaged.
The 35-year-old decided to sue her employer,and she was awarded 10,000 euros by the district court of Dusseldorf, for discrimination.
The employee received an email with the subject line "career versus family planning"after she asked for more hours of work and revealing that she was getting married.The employer wrote: "For a woman your age,it is normal to get pregnant and have
children. We welcome each new person in the world, but we have to worry about our business.”
Then she was asked about the possibility of her getting pregnant in the future, before being fired after a series of meetings.The company has decided not to appeal the court ruling.
